How does a con con work?

We will list information about how a con con functions here.

1) Upon passage of Proposal 1, each state congress and senate district will hold elections to choose a delegate from each district chosen by the public (primary in February 2011 and general in May 2011)

2) Delegates may not be existing legislators

3) Delegates will convene to establish procedures for reviewing the current constitution for changes probably in July 2011.

4) Typically committees will be formed among the delegates to review sections of the constitution, such as taxation process; legislative branch; and local government.

5) Upon debate and agreement of committe reviews, delegates will assemble and agree to a revised constitution.

6) General public will vote to accept or reject the revised constitution. The average time for this is 4 or 5 months after convening meaning that the voters could see a vote around the end of 2011 or the beginning of 2012.
